From her perspective, Aisha Ascóniga (1989, Lima, Peru) reveals the manipulation of themes such as information, consumerism, and propaganda, presenting a visual imagination where reality is replaced by image. She explores her inner self through an intense and reflective critique of human fragility through painting, sculpture, installation, printmaking, and collage. She investigates how external stimuli from society provoke psychological disorders, violence, and personal dissatisfaction. Ascóniga creates an iconography that explores the mechanisms of control that strip humans, especially women, of their identity and decision-making capacity.
She studied Visual Arts at the Escuela Corriente Alterna and obtained a bachelor's degree in Art at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, both in Lima. Her works have been recognized and appreciated internationally, finding a place in collections in the United States and Europe, as well as in the Museum of Art of San Marcos in Lima and the private collection of Luciano Benetton.
