Unique Work
Otoniel Borda (Colombia, 1979) holds a Master's degree in Fine and Visual Arts. His artistic process integrates various plastic techniques with elements of daily life, aiming to revalue the meanings of these elements and spaces. His work emphasizes the need to make visible the fundamental aspects that often go unnoticed daily. Borda's current series is based on images of elements with different levels of iconicity, using paper that contains information subject to the continuous changes of society, territory, and nature. This awakens the artist's investigative interest in the historical and social events surrounding these changes. The arrangement of elements and the inclusion of structures and optical games generate relationships between the image's semiology and semantics and the material's information. In his work, Borda represents stones in balance, each carved from pages of encyclopedic books, creating an allegory of the balance different areas of knowledge could achieve in pursuing a common good.
