Unique Work
Sebastian Mesa (Argentina, 1974) studied illustration but later devoted himself to painting. His training is almost entirely self-taught. He recalls trying to draw reality as he saw it since he was four years old. Passionate about drawing, he has practiced it frequently throughout his life.
Realistic painting is something frozen in time, but Mesa tries to transcend that and go a bit further. Starting from an image stripped of movement, he seeks to make time resurface when the viewer's eye captures it, allowing it to be constantly renewed by individual appreciation. The more realistically Mesa paints, the more he understands reality and how it works, gaining a deeper understanding of nature and himself.
